PRTG Network Monitor Software: A One-Time Payment for a Perpetual License with All Monitoring Featur

PRTG (Paessler Router Traffic Grapher until version 7) is an agentless network monitoring software from Paessler AG. Several software versions are combined under the umbrella term Paessler PRTG. It can monitor and classify system conditions like bandwidth usage or uptime and collect statistics from miscellaneous hosts as switches, routers, servers and other devices and applications.[2]

The monitoring software Paessler PRTG is available in three versions. In addition to the classic standalone solution PRTG Network Monitor, Paessler sells PRTG Enterprise Monitor for large and distributed networks and PRTG Hosted Monitor as a SaaS-version.[4]

Prtg Network Monitor Software

PRTG Network Monitor is the classic on-premise monitoring solution, which is hosted on a server in the user's network. For the installation of the core server, a computer with the Windows Server operating system is required.

The software is based on sensors that are configured for a specific purpose. A PRTG sensor is a single metric on a device. For instance, when managing a switch, a sensor could be measuring network health, or whether the switch's CPU utilization is running above 90%. Most devices require between five and ten sensors to be fully monitored.[7] There are HTTP, SMTP/POP3 (e-mail) application sensors and hardware-specific sensors for switches, routers and servers. PRTG Network Monitor has over 200 different predefined sensors that retrieve statistics from the monitored instances, e.g. response times, processor, memory, database information, temperature or system status.[8][9]

To keep an eye on the entire IT environment, there are specialized IT monitoring tools that constantly collect, log, and analyze data about the health, availability, and performance of all hardware and software in the respective network. This includes, for example:

 • Identify bottlenecks and eliminate disruptions : Applications and devices that consume excessive amounts of bandwidth can bring an entire network to a standstill. It is therefore crucial that admins know exactly how much traffic is running through their networks. By monitoring traffic and bandwidth, you’ll keep a constant eye on your network capacity and can prevent disruptions caused by bottlenecks and overloads. As a result, you’ll ensure business goes on as usual at your company or organization. Read more

Optimize performance and do away with downtime : For business processes to be successful, your servers and databases must always be up and running. If a web or mail server goes down, your company feels the pinch immediately and is forced to free up valuable resources to solve the problem. You should therefore keep a constant eye on the most important aspects of your database, including its query, connection, and response times. With comprehensive network monitoring, you’ll be able to monitor all your servers around the clock and make sure they are always operational. Read more

The free version of PRTG includes 100 sensors. You will need one sensor for each individual monitoring entity. One sensor monitors for example one network service, one URL, one network connection, one port of a switch, one NetFlow export stream, one CPU load or one disk drive.

With the various infrastructure options in use today it can sometimes be difficult to decide which monitoring technology is right to solve your problem. PRTG offers unified IT monitoring that is intuitive to use. The autodiscovery of our free bandwidth meter makes the setup quick and easy. With its preconfigured device templates, it selects the appropriate sensor settings for servers, applications and network devices. Of course you can configure PRTG manually, too.

With the freeware version of PRTG, you can get started with network monitoring in a matter of minutes. Our Auto Discovery function detects all the devices within a given IP range and automatically incorporates them into your monitoring environment.

Many admins start with a comparison of network monitoring tools. There are a variety of specialized and all-in-one monitoring tools on the market. By comparing individual tools, you can determine which one best meets the needs of your company.

As always, the needs of your company will determine which tool you choose. Here are some of the advantages of PRTG: System administrators get one centralized monitoring tool for their entire network infrastructure. All the features of the software are included, as well as speedy, first-rate support.

The mere implementation of a network monitor is not enough. The key to effective network monitoring in real time is to ensure that the chosen tool has been configured to monitor what are essentially a network's vital signs: availability, speed and usage.

All large networks contain countless different devices made by a variety of manufacturers. These include switches, servers, workstations, and routers. Many monitoring tools can only monitor the devices of specific manufacturers while others require expensive add-ons, e.g. to monitor Cisco devices. The advantage of PRTG is that it comes with sensors for monitoring the devices of nearly every manufacturer.

PRTG is the perfect tool for monitoring network traffic. It shows you which applications, connections, and data types are putting the greatest strain on your network. In the event of disruptions or overloads, the PRTG alarm is triggered at once.

The network monitoring tool PRTG includes all features to keep track of your entire IT infrastructure, check the uptime of your websites, or monitor the performance of your services. Performance monitoring, network management, capacity planning are just a few examples of tasks PRTG can help you with.

PRTG is used by companies with a few dozen workers as well as by companies with several thousand employees. Its licenses are customized in accordance with the required number of sensors. Our software also provides peace of mind to the sysadmins of smaller networks.

Our software comes with sensors that you create for each of the devices you wish to monitor. These sensors send monitoring data to the core PRTG server. Check out the following video to learn more about sensors.

Network monitoring refers to the monitoring of an entire network environment. Its goal is to allow sysadmins to work in a better, quicker, and more efficient manner. Network monitoring focuses on parameters such as bandwidth consumption and the availability of network devices. Some of the monitored devices include the local and Internet-based systems in an IT environment, such as databases, applications, clouds, servers, and network infrastructures. Network monitoring allows admins to ensure their networks run smoothly, effectively, and free of errors.

Many applications are critical for your business. You should therefore monitor your network to detect potential problems and errors before they arise. Otherwise, you run the risk of malfunctions causing serious disruptions to your business. If you want to help your coworkers be as productive as possible, you must ensure all the devices and applications in your LAN and WAN are running smoothly.

Good solution for monitoring network performance. You can customize dashboard as you need, create sensors which you need and it happens very easy. Everything works without any bugs. Strongly recommend.

In a world where enterprise IT is getting larger and more complex, large infrastructure monitoring faces several challenges that might not arise in small to medium networks. Many different IT layers need to be converged, many vendor-specific devices, technologies, and monitoring tools need to be integrated, there are different processes for various specialized and distributed teams, and there is a need for the unified monitoring of multiple distributed locations, to name just a few challenges for complex and large IT environments.

PRTG Enterprise Monitor is enterprise monitoring software by Paessler for monitoring large and distributed IT infrastructure. It provides unified monitoring in one management console with a centralized overview of the metrics of all IT and IIoT components that make up your on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments.

As open-source software, Zabbix is free of charge. However, one should always consider the number of people and the amount of time that needs to be invested for setting up, configuring, customizing, and maintaining the monitoring software particularly for very large environments. Download

OpManager Plus is the unified monitoring and IT operations management solution by ManageEngine for large IT infrastructures. It offers a unified management console for visibility across all IT infrastructure components on-premises or in the cloud, including the network, server and storage, application, and security layer.

In large networks, many different layers need to be consolidated in your monitoring: from hardware servers and devices and completely virtualized environments through to IoT devices and a huge number of applications, services, etc. These different components can be installed on premises, hosted in the cloud, or both, as most IT infrastructures today exist in a hybrid environment.

In enterprise IT, you usually need to integrate devices, services, and applications from various manufacturers and providers. These devices often come with specific technologies and protocols that need to be integrated into the monitoring in addition to the usual technologies. Moreover, many vendors provide their own monitoring software with their devices. This can lead to infrastructures where 10 to 15 different monitoring tools for various purposes such as virtualization, storage, performance, or database monitoring are maintained at the same time, each with their own configuration and look & feel. 2ff7e9595c
