Think about all the things you have been passionate about in your life. Think about all those passions that you considered making a career out of or building a company around. How many were/are there ? Why did you bounce from one to another ? Why were you not able to make a career or business out of any of those passions ? Or if you have been able to have some success, what was the key to the success.? Was it the passion or the effort you put in to your job or company ?

Even when I was exhausted I would dream about the things I would love to do. I still have the lists I would make of dream jobs. I had no interest in technology back then. It wasnt what I was passionate about. But I happened to get a job doing it. And while I thought my passions were elsewhere, and a lot more exciting than selling computers, i found that the more I worked with computers, the better I got, the better I got, the more I liked them. This came after having jumped between jobs, getting fired and just trying to pay the bills. Not everyone falls into the right job and ends up really liking it. But everyone who is in a job that dont like dreams of what they would rather be doing and thinks that is their passion. Many of us not only dream, we dabble. But when those dabbles turn into effort, every waking and available moment type of effort, you will be amazed how good things can happen. The problem is that most people never get past messing around with things they like. they dont commit the effort

Mark, you say it all the time on Shark Tank- people who get led into sinking their life savings into a crap idea, because of all the false praises they get throughout their years of effort. Making it their life (i.e-passion) makes them stick to that idea, leading them to a downward spiral.

I do feel passion is important, but it is a small part of a greater whole. Passion alone may burn out or lead us ahead without consideration. Passion is an important indicator but alone it does not necessarily lead to success.

Your attack should be against the application of passion and hard work. People put effort and hard work into the things they love to do, they do not devote their time to the things they hate or even dislike.

Following your passion may not make us rich like you Mark, so if wealth is your yardstick, you are probably talking good sense. It takes all kinds and I will throw my two cents in about how passion is related to a good career here: -yourself-follow-your-bliss/

I think passion and effort/hard work are not mutually exclusive to being successful, they are both important to being happy, successful and living a fulfilling life. One without the other will only get you so far and you will end up in mediocrity.

As the first and only African American to fly solo around the globe, Barrington Irving has also created a nonprofit organization, Experience Aviation, which takes students out of classrooms and into a cockpit. Students are able to learn hands-on math and science, while exploring their passion for aviation.

As part of your decision-making process, you should weigh the pros and cons of starting a business, along with your own reasons for seeking self-employment. For example, hoping to make a lot of money quickly can lead you into trouble. But if you feel passionately about developing an idea, self-employment may be right for you.

Experts suggest that, in addition to having technical skills, you focus on improving "soft" skills, such as time management and people skills. And, regardless of what you do, having a passion for the work is key.

The rubric for the celebrant's and deacon's reverence has been somewhat changed. "[A]fter making a reverence to the altar, [they] prostrate themselves or, if appropriate, kneel and pray in silence for a while. All others kneel" (GF, no. 5). The "Circular Letter Concerning the Preparation and Celebration of the Easter Feasts" describes the significance of this action as "the abasement of 'earthly man' and also the grief and sorrow of the Church" (no. 65).

The Roman Missal gives specific directions as to the music used during the adoration. The antiphons We adore your Cross, O Lord, the reproaches, the hymns Faithful Cross, or other suitable songs are sung. Totally new is the indication: "In accordance with local circumstances or popular traditions and if it is pastorally appropriate, the Stabat Mater may be sung, as found in the Graduale Romanum, or another suitable chant in memory of the compassion of the Blessed Virgin Mary" (GF, no. 20).

The aim of this study was to determine the chemical composition -physico-chemical properties, fatty acid and tocopherol compositions and total phenolic compounds -and evaluate the radical-scavenging activity of crude oil extracted from passion fruit (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa) seeds, aiming to use the agro-industrial by-products. The oil seed extraction was performed by Soxhlet method and the oil yield from the seeds was 30.39%. The oil showed high levels of unsaturated fatty acids (87.59%), including mainly linoleic (73.14%) and oleic (13.83%) acids, tocopherol (499.30 mg/kg) and phenolic compounds (1,314.13 mg GAE/kg). The physico-chemical characteristics were similar to those of other edible oils and the oil showed significant antioxidant activity. Therefore, the potential utilization of the passion fruit seed oil as a raw material for food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries could be favorable.

Passion fruit belongs to the Passifloraceae family and is originally from the tropical America, featuring over 500 species worldwide. Among these, the fruits of only about 20 varieties are edible and the most cultivated species in the world are the yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa), purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) and sweet passion fruit (Passiflora alata) (Fraife Filho et al. 2010). However, a single species, the yellow passion fruit, is grown in 95% of orchards (Meletti et al. 2005).

The yellow passion fruit is mainly marketed in natura, and used to prepare the ice creams, soft drinks, candies, among others. However, the use of the industrialized passion fruit juice has been increasing in the consumer market. In juice industry, the passion fruit yields thousands of tons of seeds as agricultural by-products during juice extraction. It is estimated, for example, that the residue from the production of passion fruit juice reaches 40% of the amount of processed fruits. About 90% of the waste is made of shells and seeds (Lousada Júnior et al. 2006). The seeds, containing large amounts of fiber and oil are generally disposed after being crushed. These residues imply operating costs for the industries and may become an environmental problem. Thus, the extraction of oil from the passion fruit seeds may add value to this agro-industrial waste.

Furthermore, vegetable oils contain the substances with antioxidant properties. Besides preventing the lipids oxidative deterioration, antioxidants act as a benefit for the health, preventing aging-related diseases such as cancer and heart diseases (Sousa et al. 2007). Although some studies have reported the chemical compositions of oils extracted from the seeds of different varieties of passion fruit (Ferrari, Colussi and Ayub 2004; Nyanzi, Carstensen and Schwack 2005; Piombo et al. 2006), no study has been carried out on the antioxidant activity of this oil. This study was carried out to chemically characterize the crude oil extracted from the yellow passion fruit seeds and to evaluate their antioxidant properties, aiming at a better utilization of the seeds from the agro-industrial waste and the possible applicability of this seed oil in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. 2ff7e9595c
